,My S did NOT get in with scores above 90% a few years ago. It is not about one poster taking another to task for something that has nothing to do with the matter under discussion. I would venture a guess that all of these kids scored in the 99th percentile on the ISEE (and, of course, that's not even counting the many kids at RL who score in the 770-790 range on the SAT, which, given the SAT's margin of error, reflects academic ability comparable to those scoring 800).

We are interested in selective private day schools in our area; specifically Milton Academy (MA) and Roxbury Latin (RL). My son prepared for ISEE two and half weeks ago before the 9th grade ISEE test and beyond my expectation, he got 9’s on all four sectiond with three out of four with perfect scores. Worth the effort to see if there's a good fit between a boy and the school.

My point is that RL gets plenty of applicants with excellent scores and the school can chose a kid with a 90% score over a boy with 99% score if they believe the 90% is a better fit. My child applied for 7th, and had very high SSAT scores, plus quite strong SAT scores but didn't get in - I"m sure that it was because he wouldn't fit at the school - among other things, he is not all interested in the usual team sports. There are tons of schools in the area that matriculate around half the grad. I believe they like to see at least one score above 91%. Statistically, it is unlikely that even one of those resides in Boston AND is applying to Roxbury Latin. I would guess that anything in the 80s could be acceptable, with perhaps a median in the low 90s.
